  2017 Schedule of Events:

Blue Ridge Boxster Summit 2017 will officially commence on Thursday, June 2nd with the meet-and-greet at Little Switzerland, North Carolina's Switzerland Inn, followed by the kickoff dinner. A full schedule of Boxster-related social and driving activities will follow on Friday and Saturday. Sunday's breakfast will conclude the event, with fond farewells.  Optional early activities will begin on Wednesday, May 31st for those who wish to get an early start.

The schedule below was the planners’ schedule for the 2017 event. This schedule will change when plans are made for 2017.

Wednesday, June 1, 2016
9:00 AM - 11:15 AM  Leave Switzerland Inn parking lot and drive to Charlotte and the NASCAR Hall of Fame; others plan to arrive en route. Set GPS to 400 East Martin Luther King Blvd., Charlotte, NC.
11:15 AM - 2:30 PM  "BRBS Cruises Charlotte and Mayberry"

NASCAR Hall of Fame -
400 East Martin Luther King Blvd., Charlotte, NC

Parking: The parking garage is located at 500 S. Brevard St. for $15. There is an open lot for $6 across the street at S. Caldwell St. and E. 3rd St. The open lot is recommended, unless a covered garage is desired.

~ ~ ~

Tickets: $19.95 per person; Seniors $17.95 with ID ; $5 for the audio tour; and $5 per Simulator ride.

We'll start in the High Octane Theater which features a 64 foot wide projection screen with surround sound where we'll watch a movie that traces NASCAR’s historic roots from the sandy beaches of Daytona to present day. This movie has high production quality and is both entertaining as well as educational. It will set up a great day of exploring the museum.

We'll move on to the Great Hall and Glory Road which has served as one of the most prominent focal points and signature exhibits since the NASCAR Hall of Fame opened in May 2010. Encircling the Great Hall, Glory Road features 18 historic cars that tell the story of NASCAR reflecting the six generations of NASCAR premier series race cars that have been driven and built by some of the sport's most celebrated drivers, owners and mechanics. And don't miss the Ride Simulator!

From there, we'll move into The Hall of Honor where NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees are enshrined, celebrated and honored over the years, and then on to Race Week which will take us behind the scenes for a look at how a NASCAR team and the NASCAR industry prepare for race day each week.

On to Heritage Speedway with more than 200 artifacts that will walk us through NASCAR’s storied past decade by decade. In this exhibit, we’ll find iconic moments illustrated through artifacts that capture the personality of the legends who paved the way for today’s drivers along with unexpected memorabilia and relics that pay homage to the sport’s deep-seated roots.

Lunch will be available in the Pit Stop Cafe

Alternate Tour of museums and shops around the Hall of Fame: Meet Angie Purtell, leader of the walking tour, at 11:15 p.m. at the entrance to the Hall of Fame, where the group will begin its tour of Downtown Charlotte and decide on optional places to visit.
2:30 PM - 3:45 PM  Leave Charlotte and travel to Forest City, NC
3:45 PM - 5:30 PM  Bennett Classics Auto Museum at 241 Vance Street, just off W. Main Street, Forest City, NC. Directions from NASCAR Hall of Fame:

Having a wide variety of vehicles, including a lot of unrestored originals from Model T’s to Mack Trucks, a Shelby mustang, to the retired Forest City American LaFrance Fire truck, this museum will take us back to the days of our parents’ and grandparents’ “coming of age” and, in some cases, our own!

Don’t miss the 1963 Ford Mayberry Sheriff’s Car signed by Don Knotts a/k/a Barney Fife! The museum is about preserving the automobile history for generations of the past, present and future, all under one roof. Special BRBS rate is $8 per person.

5:30 PM - 6:30 PM  Return to Little Switzerland.
7:00 PM - ??  Join other early-arrivers and locals at the Switzerland Inn's Terrace Bar overlooking the pool and the Blue Ridge mountain valley for an evening of music with Wayne Taylor, oysters, wings, and other goodies.
Thursday, June 2, 2016
8:55 AM - 10:15 AM  Leave Switzerland Inn parking lot and travel to Asheville.

Parking in Asheville will be at the city-owned garage at the bottom of the Aloft Hotel at 51 Biltmore Ave. Pay when you leave the parking deck. Parking in Asheville can be problematic. We anticipate this garage can accommodate our entire group; but if not, park nearby.

8:55 AM - 3:30 PM  "BRBS Cruises Asheville" - Last year, we took you on a quiet, relaxing train ride through the western North Carolina mountains.

This year, it won't be quiet, but it will be fun! We'll be boarding the LaZoom Comedy Tour Bus for its special BRBS Edition. We'll see all the interesting spots in and around Asheville, while being entertained by Buster Guy, Earline Hooch and others!

We'll have the whole bus for two 90-minute tours. The first group will board at 10:15 a.m. and the second group at 12:15 p.m. at French Broad Food Co-Op at 90 Biltmore Avenue in Downtown Asheville.  There will be a 10 minute mid-tour break at the Grove Arcade.

For those leaving from Switzerland Inn, the first group will leave the Inn no later than 8:55 a.m.

We'll all gather afterwards for lunch at the famous Pack's Tavern 20 S. Spruce St, Asheville, NC  in the heart of Downtown adjacent to Pack Square Park! It's an easy 6 minute walk from the French Broad Food Co-op where the LaZoom bus will drop off. Lunch will be self-pay and menu-ordered. The first group should be there around 1:30 p.m.; the second group will come directly after being dropped off the bus.

While waiting to board the LaZoom Bus, or while waiting for lunch to start, there are many places to visit; check out these spots right around where we will be, all in easy walking distance:

Lexington Glass Works, 81 S. Lexington Ave, was "born out of the desire to create timeless and innovative hand-blown glass; each piece is skillfully crafted using century old techniques and locally sourced material with the singular goal of creating top-notch work." Watch the artists at work and browse the gallery.

Mast General Store, 15 Biltmore Ave. BRBS alumni know this store well and may have visited other store locations. This art-deco building and the shopping experience inside is worthy of a visit.

Grove Arcade, One Page Avenue: Shop in this exquisite architectural building; from sophisticated furniture to American and Italian designer clothing to arts and crafts straight out of our mountain valleys, you will find something unique and local when shopping here.
